ELECTRICAL/INSTRUMENT TECHNICIAN
Electrical Job Duties - perform the normal job duties of an Industrial Electrical Journeyman
- Maintain and troubleshoot mill electrical power sytems:
2400V, 575V, 480V, 240/120V & 5VDC to 90VDC
- Use the PLC system and the DCS system to troubleshoot: paper machine, winders, recycled fiber system, water treatment and boiler operation.
- Use the NEC to properly size cable, fuses and overloads
- Install, configure and maintain process equipment: motors, motor starters, variable speed drives, various switch types, etc.
- Install and maintain the PLC system: use monitoring devices to determine problems
Instrument Job Duties - perform the normal job duties of an Industrial Instrument Journeyman
- Check and calibrate instruments: valves, flow meters, (level, pressure, temperature, pH and dissoved air transmitters)
- Troubleshoot system problems to determine if they are electrical, instrument or mechanical in nature
- Install and maintain the DCS system: use monitoring devices to determine problems
- PID control loop tuning
General Job Duties
- Interact well with: customers, employees and various vendors of equipment
- Read electrical, gas and steam useage meters, record information and generate monthly reports report out of spec situations
- Order spare and replacement parts as needed
- Help manage water treatment facility
- Clean, check and calibrate instruments to meet daily monitoring requirements for WPDES permit
- Record equipment documentation: spares inventory and in operation equipment
