Position Details: Utility Driver

Description:

Summary: Fully trained operators are expected to work with their team to maintain safety standards and meet customer requirements of appearance, count and loading in a timely fashion. Must maintain the warehouse, keeping product orderly. Accountable for moving product without damaging it and make entries to ensure an accurate inventory of all materials coming into and leaving the warehouse.

 Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Observes and follows all the safety regulations and plant procedures including use of personal protection equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, face shields, gloves, hearing protection, cut resistant sleeves, steel toe shoes/boots and other equipment as required to perform job duties safely.
  • Ensures good housekeeping by participating in plant initiatives on safety, operation and maintenance of equipment.
  • Monitors the inventory of finished product, making entries into the database as required and keeping the warehouse free from debris or anything which may cause an unsafe or unsanitary condition.
  • Loads trailers, unloads trailers, and transfers material in a safe and timely manner.
  • Once trained, can respond to concerns expressed by the Customer Service or Warehouse Leaders with appropriate corrective action.
  • Interacts with team members, shift operators, supervision, vendors and customers in a positive and professional manner.  Looks for ways to improve operations and presents suggestions in a constructive manner.
  • Performs operations according to step-by-step standard operating procedures (SOP’s).
  • Corrects any deviation from normal processing, equipment operation and/or unsafe conditions if trained or ensures appropriate employee corrects the situation.
  • Works 8-hour shifts and overtime as required.  Must be able to work weekends and holidays as required to meet customer needs.
  • May be assigned to assist or perform other tasks as identified by the Lead Warehouse Operator. 
  • Operates powered industrial trucks (PIT’s) daily.

Qualification Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Willingness to work in a high performing team environment
  • One year’s relevant industrial experience
  • Keyboarding skills required
  • Familiar with computer databases to update information and make corrections as needed
  • Must have excellent communication skills to ensure loads are accurate and customers are pleased
