Position Details: E&I Technician JE3

Description:

Provides daily support for tissue manufacturing operations and is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical, instrumentation, and communication systems.

**Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:**

The following duties and responsibilities are essential for this position:

- Adhere to all safety regulations and plant procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as arc flash gear, fall protection systems, chemical suits, hard hats, safety glasses, face shields, gloves, and any other necessary equipment to perform job duties safely.
- Maintain and troubleshoot mill electrical power systems, which include 3-phase systems of 2,400V and 480V, as well as single-phase 240/120V and low voltage 5VDC to 90VDC. This work includes, but is not limited to, 3-phase induction motors, synchronous motors, servo motors, and various special motors.
- Develop and implement electrical and instrumentation (E/I) maintenance plans and preventive maintenance strategies.
- Coordinate and plan E/I maintenance field days and outages.
- Collaborate with the storeroom and purchasing departments to ensure spare parts are available to minimize downtime.
- Use PLC and DCS systems to troubleshoot tissue machines, winders, and water systems.
- Experience with TMEIC, Allen-Bradley (AB), and ABB drives is preferred.
- Apply National Electrical Code (NEC) standards to properly size cables, fuses, and overloads.
- Understand both analog and digital communication systems, with work experience in ABB and Bailey DCS preferred.
- Be familiar with fiber optic communication systems.
- Plan and coordinate the installation, configuration, and maintenance of equipment, including motors, motor starters, variable speed drives, and various types of switches.
- Plan and coordinate the checks and calibration of instruments such as valves, flow meters, and transmitters, including smart devices.
- Troubleshoot system issues to determine if they are electrical, instrumentation, or mechanical in nature.
- Conduct tuning of instrument control loops.
- Be familiar with engineered drawings, including Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), loop sheets, and motor elementary drawings.
- May be assigned to special projects as needed.
- Support core teams by assisting in resolving technical issues or repair procedures, coaching maintenance Front Line Leaders (FLLs) as necessary, overseeing Equipment Downtime Procedures (EDP), participating in the Precision Motor Program, Integrated Electrical Projects Management (IEPM), and the Mechanical Working Standards (MWS) team.
- Champion Failure Elimination initiatives.
- Facilitate Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) by promoting its use in the area. Although not responsible for leading all RCFA efforts, ensure workforce engagement, proper identification of root causes, and completion of action items.
- Coordinate priorities with operations.

  • May be assigned to special projects as needed.

  • Participate in the 5S program and lead 5S improvement projects as necessary.

  • Rotate with other leaders to provide weekend leadership.

Mill Operations - You must be able to:

  • 24/7 operations • Work rotating work schedules that are subject to change • Work some major holidays, weekends, and nights • Switch between nights and days during Outages • Consider the potential effect on family and the likelihood of missing a family event

Qualifications, Education, Skills, and /or Experience

· Must have excellent E&I troubleshooting skills

· 3-5 years’ experience working with electrical systems preferred

· 3-5 years’ experience working with instrumentation systems preferred

· 2-year Associate's degree in instrumentation or technical discipline preferred

· Ability to interact well with operations, maintenance, engineering, and various vendors

· Must be able to read and understand P&IDs, electrical drawings, etc.

· Must be able to work in a collaborative team environment

· Must be knowledgeable in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, and Excel

· Strong technical and maintenance background with electrical power distribution and Instrument/ Controls experience

· Ability to manage and lead multiple projects

· Proficient with Microsoft and CMMS systems

· Strong verbal and written communication skills

· Must have good interpersonal skills with the ability to interact at all levels

· Must possess great time management skills
