Position Details: FRP Maintenance Lead

Summary of Position

The successful candidate will create value by providing vision, leadership and support to the maintenance and reliability teams to ensure the team is meeting safety, quality, cost, and customer service objectives. He/she will be a key member of the site leadership team and will be expected to coordinate the maintenance and repair of a wide variety of production machines and equipment with input from the Area Process Leads in order to minimize downtime. This involves overseeing mechanical, electrical and instrumentation technicians as well as contractors in the use of maintenance best practices. Additionally, the Maintenance Lead will ensure the maintenance of buildings, facility and grounds.

The Maintenance Lead will have direct responsibility for the management of all aspects of maintenance planning for all areas of FRP. He/she will be accountable for establishing and maintaining a culture where safety and environmental excellence are fundamental to the success of the organization. He/she will directly supervise hourly employees. Additionally, the Maintenance Lead will be accountable for ensuring planning and the coordination of work by maintenance contractors. Additional responsibilities include leadership of larger-scale projects such as periodic and annual outages and identifying opportunities to continuously improve maintenance operations.
 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with the FRP Process Area Lead regarding metrics and goal setting for the area.
  • Ensures that all safety and environmental policies are observed.
  • Acts as a safety leader of the mill teams by coaching, mentoring and demonstrating employee safety as a shared core value.
  • Leads or assists in solving operational problems by eliminating the root cause.
  • Leads in the development and application of predictive and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Establishes and administers maintenance expense and capital work and manages against plans to include explaining variances.
  • Provides oversight in tracking PM’s, requests, etc. in a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Leads and supports the development and execution of asset strategies and asset work processes that will provide reliable, predictable and consistent operations to support the expectations of the business and customers.
  • Develops business relationships and is a strategic part of the mill leadership team.
  • Partners closely with peer leaders to transform thinking and aligning on vision and key focuses.
  • Effectively interacts and communicates with all levels of personnel, both hourly and management.
  • Supervises, develops, and motivates both hourly and salaried employees; helping them to understand and connect to their customers and the vision for the operation and business.
  • Makes effective and supportable personnel decisions, evaluating performance, disciplining constructively, and handling employer/employee problems.
  • Is accountable for employee and organizational development plans and people management strategies.
  • Works to build a team of employees who take pride and ownership in the production of tissue, napkin, and towel.
  • May be assigned to special projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher OR Ten (10) or more years’ work experience in an industrial, manufacturing/production environment with paper/tissue manufacturing referred
  • Five (5) or more years’ experience supporting
    maintenance/reliability AND supervisory/management experience in a manufacturing, production environment with paper/tissue manufacturing preferred.
  • Experience leading improvement efforts in reliability, predictive and preventative maintenance
  • Computer literate, functional on word processing software, Microsoft Excel,  Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Project, and ability to use CAD
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees, vendors, and customers
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
  • Ability to write articles for distribution to the organization or outside groups
  • Experience leading teams
